Frequently asked questions

What are keystrokes per minute in typing?

They are the characters you type correctly in one minute (net CPM). Here we count only the correct characters left in the text; raw speed, which also adds up the errors, is shown separately.

How many keystrokes per minute is good?

For office work, 200 net CPM with over 97% accuracy is a comfortable level. Some Spanish public-sector exams (oposiciones) ask for between 220 and 275 net CPM over tests of several minutes.

Does the test count as a certificate?

No. It is a self-assessment: you can download a dated results sheet, but it is not an official certificate and is not recognised by any body.

Can I take it without accents?

Yes. Turn on "No accents" and the text is shown without accents or diaereses, keeping the ñ.

Does it work on a phone?

You can check your progress and the library, but the training is designed for a physical keyboard. Touchscreen typing speed is not comparable.
